Needless to say, I want to go to Chirp, the Twitter Developer Conference.

The event will be on April 14-15 in San Francisco at The Palace of Fine Arts Theatre.

Day 1 will be jam-packed with speakers like Biz Stone, Ev Williams, Ryan Sarver, and Dick Costolo – sounding good so far ?? Then Day 2 is being billed as a 24 Hour Hack Day – all day in the code, reviewing the APIs, and writing code.

A professional colleague of mine has just announced some news within the Garmin Corporation. As with many businesses, they are consolidating efforts and downsizing their physical office locations. Unfortunately, for those in the San Francisco, California offices, this is not good news, as many of the jobs are consolidatiing to the headquarters in Olathe, Kansas.

I’d like to provide my assistance by helping spread the word that there are about 14 top quality individuals with skills ranging from product management, coordination, and software engineering.

If you’re a Garmin GPS owner/user, you’ll undoubtedly know the output of this team – they created the GarminConnect community and infrastructure (a true SaaS: software as a service that is both aesthetically pleasing and functional).

The team has put together a website explaining their current situation. They have links to their individual Twitter accounts and, very smartly, their LinkedIN accounts.

I’m registered and will be in the building for WordCamp San Francisco this May 1st, 2010.

This is very exciting for me as, I’ve been to tons of other trade shows and conferences in my career, but this will be my first WordCamp.

Apparently, last year’s SF event was attended by some 700 attendees from 32 countries. I’m looking forward to hanging out all day at the Mission Bay Conference Center at UCSF.

Update: I just got notified by the good folks at Automattic that I will be working as a volunteer at the WordCamp – now that is really cool stuff ! I guess I won’t get to play as much since I’ll actually have to do some official work. And, judging by the current list of 409 registered attendees – this should be an awesome conference. I’m looking forward to seeing/meeting some of the WordPress ninjas out there (shouts out to @cyberdivava, @coreymiller303, @michaeltorbert, @williamsba, @misstillytilly, the team from @studiopress, and the countless others)

We will be on the expo floor all day this Thursday, February 11th.

Timothy Ferriss, famous the world over for his life changing philosophy detailed in “The 4-Hour Workweek” book spend some time at WordCamp San Francisco last year talking about something very near and dear to my heart: Blogging Without Killing Yourself.

Timothy dispels some of the myths and old practices where site owners felt the need to stay up all night and post content every hour on the hour. That’s not good for you, the individual, and it’s also not good for the quality of content you’d be pushing out.

Understanding what your true purpose is in blogging is critical. Are you spending time online just to monetize a site with affiliate network banner ads and Google Adsense revenue OR are you looking to effectively reach and connect with a global audience and have a constructive dialogue?

I for one, am using the internet, my organization HicksNewMedia and the online mediums we produce as a means to reach, teach, and learn
