I’m not a big fan of downloadable, desktop apps to manage my online, social life. I’m more in alignment with web-based tools like Google Docs, Threadsy, Tungle, and now Seesmic Web.

True, Seesmic Web has been out for a while now with some great functionality; Twitter streams, Twitter Lists, and even Foursquare location-based integration. But what was always missing, at least in my mind was the inclusion of seeing your Facebook stream.

Now each of those networks can be viewed within their own columns in your Seesmic Web window. These columns can be sorted from left to right as you so desire and the width of those columns is also adjustable.

When you create a status update, you can choose to publish it to any or all of your connected networks; just click on the network icon to select or deselect. You can also attach a photo, link and your location.

For Seesmic Web users who use Google Chrome, there is a new desktop notifications option that will show a pop-up on your screen every time you receive a mention or direct message on Twitter.

Now the apples to apples comparison lies between Seesmic and HootSuite.

I like what both Seesmic and HootSuite do and they serve their focus groups well (Seesmic more for the individual, while HootSuite adds some fantastic team collaboration capabilities).
