Automattic Introduces VaultPress

Alright, I admit it – I sound like a broken record when it comes to posts about backup and securing your blog. Reason being, I’ve been the victim TWICE of a blown up site – once I was hacked and once I very stupidly installed an aggregating plugin that did all sorts of bad things (that’s another post for another day).

Needless to say, I’ve learned from those mistakes and working to spread the fundamentals of good web presence management to my readership.

That being said, Automattic has announced today the forthcoming means to effortlessly backup and secure your WordPress self-hosted blog.

VaultPress, when released, will be a premium service (possibly priced at $20 per month). You’ll be able to scale to accommodate the number and configuration of your blogs as your needs grow/change.

The vision of VaultPress, from Matt himself is,

“…to ensure that blogs and sites under its care are always completely secure, regardless of what happens. Today, this means every bit of content will be safe, from plugins and themes to the smallest comment or post revision, with WordPress-aware, real-time, multi-cloud backups. This is some of the most advanced technology I’ve seen interact with WordPress.”
