YouTube Loosens Restrictions
Posted by scoop under Tech
For those of us that publish content to YouTube there is some good news coming out of Silicon Valley.
They have recently increased the upload limit from 1 to 2GB. If that wasn’t enough, you also have the ability to directly link to and embed high definition video.
To share a link that points directly to the HD version of a video, append the “&hd=1″ tag to the end of the URL. To embed a high-def video on a website or blog, click the ‘customize’ button, then check ‘Play in HD’.
FYI: YouTube recommends embedding HD videos at 853×505 for “maximum enjoyment”. [via]

IT Infrastructure On Demand
Posted by scoop under Tech, Web Hosting
I attended the GigaOM Structure09 Cloud Computing Conference a few weeks ago in San Francisco.
I went representing myself and my “day job” – from that day job, Denoid Tucker, our recently promoted VP of Technology took a few moments with GigaOM reporter Derrick Harris to talk about what precisely sets StrataScale, and the IronScale product apart from the others within the managed IT marketplace.

Microsoft Pulls Vomit Ad

First of all, FIRE THE MARKETING DEPARTMENT !! Everyone that was involved with this ad should be let go and kicked in the head.
I want to believe that this was meant to be an internal spoof and not supposed to be released to the general public. In an email from Microsoft to CNET this morning, “…We make a point of listening to our customers, we created the OMGIGP video as a tongue-in-cheek look at the InPrivate Browsing feature of Internet Explorer 8, using the same irreverent humor that our customers told us they liked about other components of the Internet Explorer 8 marketing campaign. While much of the feedback to this particular piece of creative was positive, some of our customers found it offensive, so we have removed it.”
Bradley and Montgomery is the agency responsible for the campaign, which features actor Dean Cain, check out their website for examples of other campaigns they’ve run for other various organizations.

Make Way For the ‘Remote’ DVRs
Posted by scoop under Home Tech
It’s very early, but the San Francisco Business Times reported today that The Supreme Court rejected an appeal made by movie and TV businesses that would have blocked a so-called “remote storage” digital video recorder by Cablevision Systems Corp.
Unlike DVRs sold by TiVo or other cable and satellite providers, a remote storage system would let customers save recordings of programs on the company’s servers instead of on a hard drive in their own home.
News Corp., Time Warner Inc., Walt Disney Co., CBS Corp. and other media businesses sued New York’s Cablevision, saying the new DVR system would break copyright laws. An appeals court rejected their claims, and this decision upholds that ruling. [via]
