Charlie Rose recently held a roundtable on his show talking exclusively about Apple’s new iPad.

The participants were the best of the best in Walt Mossberg, Michael Arrington, and David Carr. If you missed it – sit back and enjoy 20 minutes of net intellectuals talking new technology.

TweetDeck fans – Go get this update that just came out this morning.

Not only do you have the originally supported multi-Twitter accounts, Facebook, MySpace and LinkedIN integration, but now you get the ultimate coolness and centralized social management of:

  • YouTube
  • Posterous
  • Mobypicture
  • Twitgoo

and…

  • Flickr

Are you kidding me?! I’m seeing TweetDeck as leapfrogging 2 huge steps above the competition with this 0.33 release. Now all that’s left is the analytics and the ability to pre-schedule tweets (HootSuite holds the crown there)

I really think that Iain Dodsworth and the team over at TweetDeck have set the mark for seamless integration, pleasing user interface, and incorporation of what services really matter to the end user.

Great work.

Hovercards will be a new way to access profile information for people without having to actually visit their Twitter profile.

Twitter spokesperson Jenna Sampson described how the new feature will work:

“Hovercards are cards which appear when you hover over a username or avatar. The cards display additional information about the person and allow you to interact with them while staying within the context of your page.”

By hovering over the username in your timeline you get profile information, location, follow status and an option menu to select follow, block, mention, or report abuse.

Looking at the screen capture on the Twitter blog it looks like this feature will be useful, but like everything they release, this feature isn’t available for everyone just yet, it’s being phased out over time.

Keep in mind, that this will only be active on twitter.com and not a standalone client application like Tweetdeck, Seesmic or HootSuite.

Blogging (blog comes from the term Web log which is similar to an online diary) is a marketing tool many businesses foolishly do not use. When a blog is done well it creates a conversation between you and your client community, driving traffic to your site as the result of search engine results. You can share news about your business, information and resources and ask for input from readers. Blogging is easy and not necessarily time-consuming.

You should already have a Web site for your business, so adding a blog won’t be difficult for your web manager or hosting company. It is generally just an additional feature. While we can’t do an overview of every software package that includes blog add-ons, whomever is managing your site for you should be able to do this without problems. If they cannot do this for you or you don’t have a Web site, there are free blogging tools on the Internet. Blogger, Wordpress and Typepad are all user-friendly and you can simply have a link from your main site to the blog. The sites vary in how much you can customize a blog, so start off with a simple template.

Unfortunately, your website is not going to be visited because it is a beautiful work of art, but rather because it is accurately returned in searches by one or more search engines. Attracting visitors to your site relies not only on design, but also search engine optimization(SEO services).

Design and SEO go hand in hand
The most common, and expensive mistake that a company can make is to design their website and then later consider optimizing it for search engines. Many aspects of SEO require the adaption of design elements. It is therefore recommended to bring an SEO expert in at the start of the design process. These two equally important fundamentals of a website should develop simultaneously.

The customer comes first
Like when writing a song or making a movie, one must remember that when creating a website, you are not designing it to satisfy your own ego, but rather to attract clients. In so doing, the website must be designed in such a way that it is appealing to clients and markets your products, company or services efficiently. The content should be focused and grouped in a logical fashion that mimics the consumer’s train of thought and fulfills their immediate needs. This will also assist with key wording and indexing.
